Not So Old Fashioned Pumpkin Sauce
Ingredients:
1 can sweetened condensed milk
3 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon annatto powder
4 dashes salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
1/4 cup warm water + more for consistency
Method:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Mix together all ingredients in a deep, metal baking dish.
Cover the dish tightly with foil.
Place the dish in a larger dish of at least the same depth.
Place the combination of dishes in the preheated oven, then create a water bath by filling the outer dish to at least the level of the inner dish's contents (generally about an inch to two inches deep).
Bake the mixture in the water bath for 90 minutes.
Carefully remove the inner dish from the water bath and allow to cool.
Remove the foil and mix in additional water until the mixture forms the consistency of "sauce".
Add a heaping tablespoon (or two!) to your coffee for a hit of pumpkin spiciness!
